I guess the constructions and infrastacture will give work to the locals. However, when a mine is sold, it becomes a private property and no gains go to the state! This is the law of privatization!
I will check into your figures!Justine's Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09637611134209261950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3565495055460636512.post-41951615804433892232013-03-15T06:41:01.342-07:002013-03-15T06:41:01.342-07:00Maybe Ms. Frangouli is not aware that the Greek go...Maybe Ms. Frangouli is not aware that the Greek government has given away all mining and property rights to Eldorado for 11 million euros which means that the Greek state will have ZERO income from the extraction of the gold.

Maybe Ms. Frangouli is also unaware of the fact that all roads, tunnels and other infrastructure needed in order to reach the mining site, will be constructed by the Greek state, adding to the fact that this "investment" will actually end up having a devastating cost for the Greek people, not only environmental but also financial.

Even discounting the devastating destruction of the environment on a vast area of the most beautiful forests in Greece, the financial dimensions of this deal are scandalous.
